Quick answer
There is no single Europe visa. First choose your study country and secure the admission. Then complete any step that country requires before the visa: Campus France for France, pre-enrolment on Universitaly for Italy, APS and a blocked account for Germany, AVATS for Ireland. Next, confirm which mission covers Gujarat, often a consulate in Mumbai, and book through the visa centre it names. Finally, apply for the long stay national visa with proof of funds, and register or validate your residence permit after you arrive. Our Europe student visa from Gujarat guide maps the mission for each country.
What we handle
Europe is not one process but a dozen. The work is mostly about matching your course to a country, then following that country's rules to the letter, including which office takes your file.
Our honest view: if your country accepts study visas in Gujarat and your documents are simple, you can often manage the appointment yourself. Where the route runs through Mumbai or New Delhi, needs a pre-visa step like Campus France or APS, or the intake is close, a Europe student visa consultant who has mapped the route before saves you weeks.
We compare tuition, language of teaching, funds rules and travel for the visa, so you choose a country with the full picture, not just the fee.
Campus France, Universitaly pre-enrolment, the German APS certificate and blocked account, or the Irish AVATS form. We start these early because each has its own wait.
We confirm on the official site which consulate covers Gujarat and which centre accepts study visas, before you book a slot or a train ticket.
Each country counts money differently: a blocked account, a monthly minimum or a fixed sum. We plan yours, including an education loan for study abroad if you need one.
Forms, cover letter, statement of purpose and the document set your consulate asks for, checked line by line.
The visa is often only the entry ticket. We brief you on the local step, such as Italy's 8 day deadline for the permesso di soggiorno or France's online validation.
Your file
Every country publishes its own checklist, but most national student visa files from Gujarat are built from the same core documents.
| Document | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Passport and the national visa application form | The application itself, filed with the mission that covers Gujarat for your study country. |
| Admission or enrolment letter | Proves the course and dates; for Italy it follows pre-enrolment on Universitaly. |
| Proof of the pre-visa step | Campus France interview certificate, APS certificate for Germany, or the AVATS summary for Ireland. |
| Proof of funds | Matched to the country's rule, such as Germany's blocked account or France's monthly minimum, at the time of writing. |
| Health insurance | Germany and most other countries list it in the visa file; your checklist says which cover is accepted. |
| Proof of accommodation | Where you will live, or how you will arrange it; also needed for the residence permit later. |
| Academic certificates and language results | Back up the admission and show you can follow the course. |
| Proof of residence in Gujarat | Your address decides your consulate, and some missions ask for proof when you submit. |
The visa fee is set by each country for a national visa. Germany, for example, lists 75 euros for applicants over 18 at the time of writing, while the short stay Schengen visa costs 90 euros for adults. Check the official site for your country before you pay.
Before you apply
Rules are national, so the details below differ by country. They come from official embassy and government pages at the time of writing.

|---|---|---|
| Germany | German Consulate General in Mumbai covers Gujarat. You need the APS certificate and a blocked account of 11,904 euros a year, released at 992 euros a month after you arrive. Main intakes are October and April. | Germany student visa consultant in Gujarat |
| France | Campus France procedure first, then France-Visas and biometrics at VFS Ahmedabad; the Mumbai consulate decides. The VLS-TS student visa allows up to 964 hours of work a year. | France student visa consultant in Gujarat |
| Ireland | Outside Schengen. AVATS online, biometrics at VFS, decision in New Delhi, listed at 4 to 8 weeks. Students on Stamp 2 can work 20 hours a week in term and 40 hours a week in June to September and 15 December to 15 January. | Ireland student visa steps |
| Italy | Pre-enrol on Universitaly, then apply at VFS Mumbai or Cochin under the Mumbai consulate, which says long stay visas can take up to 90 days. Apply for the permesso di soggiorno within 8 days of arriving. | Study in Italy guide |
| Malta | A smaller English speaking option. We confirm the current visa route for Gujarat residents on the official site for each student, because we could not verify a fixed arrangement. | Study in Malta guide |
| Other Schengen countries | Spain applies through BLS International, Poland accepts files at VFS Ahmedabad, the Netherlands starts with an IND application by your university, and Sweden takes biometrics only in New Delhi. | Emerging Europe visa guide |
A national visa lets you travel to other Schengen countries for up to 90 days in any 180 day period, but you live and study in the country that issued it. If you have offers from two countries, each visa is a separate application, so decide which one you are accepting before you start.
The most common mistake we correct is a student planning to enter on a Schengen visa and sort out the student visa later. A degree needs the national visa of your study country before you travel, because that is when the mission checks your admission, funds and documents. A second is assuming the Ahmedabad visa centre takes every country it lists: many centres collect some visa types and not others.

Country guides and explainers for students planning Europe from India.
No. For a full degree you apply for the long stay national visa, often called a D visa, or the residence permit of the one country where you will study. A Schengen visa covers stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period, so it suits a summer school, not a degree.
It depends on the country. At the time of writing, Gujarat falls under consulates in Mumbai for Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland and Hungary, while Ireland and Sweden are handled from New Delhi. Always confirm the jurisdiction on the official embassy site before you book.
No. Some countries accept study visa applications at VFS in Ahmedabad, such as France and Poland at the time of writing. Italy takes study visas from its Mumbai district only at VFS in Mumbai or Cochin, and Sweden takes biometrics only at its embassy in New Delhi.
No. Ireland is in the European Union but not in Schengen, so it runs its own study visa. You apply online through AVATS, give biometrics at VFS, and the Embassy of Ireland visa office in New Delhi decides.
Each country sets its own figure. At the time of writing, Germany asks for 11,904 euros a year in a blocked account, France asks for 877.50 euros a month from 1 August 2026, and Ireland asks for access to at least 10,000 euros for a one year course on top of fees. Tuition and travel come on top.
A national long stay visa lets you live in the country that issued it and visit other Schengen countries for up to 90 days in any 180 day period. To study or live in a second country for longer, you need that country's own visa or permit.
